What the calculators collect

Nothing that identifies you. When you run a calculation, the hardware you selected and the settings you chose are sent to this site’s own server so the result can be computed, and the answer is sent back. Those selections are not stored against you, not linked to an identifier, and not shared with anyone. There is no account system, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing held about you.

What is stored in your browser

One item: your light or dark mode preference, kept in your browser’s local storage so the site does not flash the wrong theme the next time you visit. It never leaves your device and is not readable by this site’s server. Clearing your site data removes it.

Cookies

The calculators set no cookies. WordPress sets cookies if you leave a comment (to remember your name and email for next time) or if you log in as an administrator. Google Analytics sets cookies as described below. If you switch the site language, that choice is stored so the site remembers it on your next visit. No advertising cookies are set.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people actually read. It records the page you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you used. It is used to decide what to write next, not to identify you, and the data is not sold or passed to anyone else. Google processes it under its own privacy terms, and you can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking the cookies in your browser.

Comments

If you comment on a blog post, the comment text, your name, email address and IP address are stored so the comment can be displayed and moderated. Your email address is not published. An anonymised hash of it may be sent to the Gravatar service to retrieve a profile picture.

Embedded content

Articles may embed content from other sites, such as videos. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that site directly, and those sites may collect data about you under their own policies.

Your rights

If you have left comments, you can request an export of the data held about you or ask for it to be erased. This does not extend to data retained for administrative or security purposes. To make a request, email teambottleneckcalculator@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

If how this site handles data changes, this page will be updated. Material changes will be noted at the top.
